Expanding Minds: Your Maths Partner in Ireland
Unlock Your Potential with Expert Resources and Support
Meet Sarah Tallon
I am a Maths, Applied Maths and Physics teacher with a particular love of problem solving and helping students understand the why behind the Maths.
I founded Expanding Minds to create opportunities for students to explore Maths, build confidence and develop the skills to solve problems for themselves.

Teaching for understanding
I have never believed that being good at Maths means memorising a collection of methods and knowing when to use them. Real confidence comes from understanding what you are doing well enough to think when a problem looks different from the ones you have seen before.
That idea sits at the heart of everything I do through Expanding Minds — from Applied Maths classes and revision days to online courses, free resources and work with teachers.

From the classroom to Expanding Minds
I began my career in mathematics and finance before moving into education, where I have spent more than a decade teaching Maths and Applied Maths.
Expanding Minds grew from the work I was already doing with students. In 2016, I started the MissSarahTallon YouTube channel to make Maths support freely available beyond my own classroom. Maths Enrichment classes followed, alongside increasingly specialised work in Applied Maths.
Today, Expanding Minds brings those strands together through classes, revision programmes, online courses, free resources and educational projects for students and teachers.

Maths should make you think.
Whether I am working with a student encountering Applied Maths for the first time, preparing a Leaving Certificate class for an exam, or developing resources for teachers, the aim is the same: make the Maths understandable, encourage curiosity and give people the confidence to tackle problems for themselves.
