What we will cover
Ever looked at an equation and known that you should know what to do, but not known where to start?
In our first She Counts class, we will look at how to recognise different types of equations, what their structure tells us, and how that helps us decide what to do next.
The aim is simple:
“I know what this is. I know what I can do with it.”
You will learn how to
- Recognise different types of equations from their structure
- Identify the features that tell you what type of equation you are looking at
- Connect different equation types with the methods used to solve them
- Decide where to start when a question does not immediately look familiar
- Build a more systematic approach to solving equations in Higher Level Maths
Who this is for
Girls in Senior Cycle studying Higher Level Maths and/or Applied Maths. You do not need to be part of an Expanding Minds class to take part.
Whether Maths is a subject you find challenging or one you absolutely love, you are very welcome.
What to bring
Paper, pen, calculator, and plenty of questions!
